Hallowed Halls

During the two weeks that I was sick, one of those weeks I had an extremely sore throat. So, to keep myself from coughing, and thus instigating a headache, I bought a package of Halls Defense cough drops to keep my throat lubricated. Well, as it turned out, the powers that be have decided that the consumer now needs “A PEP TALK IN EVERY DROP!” At first, I was amused by the novelty, but as time wore on, their treacle-like positivity started to annoy me instead. Control by William Goldman © 1982
Synopsis: You could lose control. And in that microsecond between thinking a thing and doing it, someone else could take command, forcing you to commit a crime, take your own life, do the unthinkable… someone who has mastered the secret of manipulating the human mind… someone who understands that time os of the essence… someone willing to wreak havoc in a mad scheme to alter the past and change the future… someone who will stop at nothing to take… Control.
Comments: I’ve always been drawn to the cover of this book. I’ve also enjoyed some of William Goldman’s other books: No Way to Treat a Lady, Marathon Man, Magic. However, so far, this book is boring me to tears. I was anticipating some suspense and/or thriller action, but have yet to encounter any. I may have to put this one on the back burner. Yes, it’s ANOTHER post about food! What can I say, it’s on my mind lately.

It all started when a friend posted a comment about Burger King’s new Bacon Sundae, via Facebook. I hadn’t heard about it, so I Googled it and boy did I get an eyeful! Apparently Burger King isn’t the only one with new gutbombs. Now, don’t get me wrong, I eat crap. I readily admit it (the ‘craziest’ I ever get is occasionally getting a burger with bacon on it). However, I do think fast food places have gotten too bananas with the menu and the sizes of some of their menu items. I just have to shrug and be glad that this kinda stuff just doesn’t tempt me in the least. I’m still content with a good ol’, SINGLE patty hamburger, hot dog, french fries, etc. THIS stuff is beyond the realm.

Check out this list of new menu items at all your favorite fast food places: Continue reading

Have you seen this yet? I stumbled across it the other day on the baking aisle at Elrod’s. I love pink lemonade! I dunno what it is about it that seems to appeal to me more, but I prefer it to regular ol’ lemonade. I’m hoping this bakes up as good as it looks!

3 Things…

Sundae Shoppe Lemonade Bars
Comments: I found these at Aldi’s for just $1.99 (box of 6)! There are 3 flavors in each box: Lemonade, Pink Lemonade and Strawberry Lemonade. They are SO amazing and have a good texture, unlike some popsicles/bars that have the consistency of frozen water. Highly recommended!

Fruit Punch Jell-O
Comments: I love Jell-O. Always have. So, when I saw that they’d brought back Fruit Punch flavor, of course I had to pick some up. An easy, cool treat when you need one. Plus, I think the new Madagascar movie looks fun. I can’t say that I own any of them on DVD, but they are a fun rental. The scene from the new trailer, with Marty (the zebra) dressed as a circus clown, with the whole rainbow afro, made me laugh out loud. I love Chris Rock. ( click the hyperlink to see said clip )

Targus Stylus
Comments: I receive coupons from the office supply store, Staples ALL-THE-TIME. Well, when I received one in the mail recently, I couldn’t resist: $10 Off a $10 or More Purchase. Heck yeah! So, I finally bought this stylus for my iPad/iPhone that I’d been wanting, AND I got it for just $2 (normally $12)! I’ve since found better bargains on eBay, but whatever the price, I am officially hooked on styluses… styli? Anyway, I use them all the time for everything from the ATM machine, to RedBox, to the grocery store pay pad. Highly recommended!

Pretty Little Addiction

I readily admit that I was one of those people who was looking forward to the premiere of Pretty Little Liars… back when it premiered in June of 2010 (remember, I dumped cable years ago and now just watch streaming NetFlix & DVDs). Though I was not familiar with the series of books on which it was based, the premise looked like a lot of fun. Continue reading
