I‘ve loved this song for a while now. I don’t listen to the radio, so I dunno if it’s overplayed, so if it is, my apologies. It’s very old-school Peter Gabriel. I generally don’t pay attention to lyrics, unless I want to sing along, so I can say that the lyrics are particularly poignant. I know it sounds corny, but I’ve endlessly amazed when artists (be it poets or lyricists) make a non-traditionally-rhyming lyric scheme WORK. I think that’s one of the reasons I always liked The Cure.

Additionally, I love mashups. They were the ONE saving grace to that godawful Adam Sandler movie, Just Go With It. The soundtrack was LOADED with them (re: mashups) and they were all SO great. Naturally, they never released a soundtrack WITH the mashups. One in particular, the mashup of Snow Patrol’sChasing Cars‘ and The Police’sEvery Breath You Take‘ is particularly breathtaking. It’s one of those handful of songs that brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

So, naturally, I fell in love with THIS mashup of (again) The Police and Gotye. If you like it, you can click here to instantly download the MP3 for FREE! Enjoy

When they first started playing Somebody that I Used to Know on the radio, I didn’t pay much attention to what channels I had on. I seriously thought that it was an old Peter Gabriel song that I hadn’t heard before.
