Okay, I know, I know. You’re thinking the next words out of my mouth should be “Hi, my name is Kirk and I’m a movieholic.” BUT, I had to tell you about a sale that Barnes & Noble is having right now. All their Criterion DVDs are HALF PRICE right now, through the 3rd of August. If the name ‘Criterion‘ means nothing to you, then you probably won’t flinch whilst reading this post. However, if you are a fan of classic and contemporary films that are only available through the Criterion collection, then you know how ex$pensive these movies usually are ($40 and up). I bought two that I have been wanting for a long time, but couldn’t bring myself to pay $40+ each for either of them; with this sale, I got TWO for the price of one! Very exciting (to me anyway)! Check out the video clip from 1929’s Pandora’s Box (still sensationally modern), originally a silent film, synced to the music of The Killer’s ‘Mr. Brightside‘. Continue reading
Well, with P’s help, we got my new DVD case assembled and it looks beautiful! And even though it’s definitely a two person job (because of the size), I was shocked how simple it was to assemble. We finished it in no time! And here I was turning down his offers to help, thinking I could do it alone, and we finished it in well under an hour. Crazy! Anyway, A LOT of the DVDs (marked with an asterisk) here were found at Big Lots! for a mere $3 each (in some rare cases, $6)! I about crapped myself, not to mention kicked myself for paying upwards of $30-$50 for some of these Hanna-Barbera boxsets! If you have a Big Lots! in your area, I strongly urge you to go! And, just so you know, they all have different ones in stock, so check ’em all out!
I had no idea when I was reading this comic three weeks ago, that such a movie actually existed (*see Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus). That is until I visited my nearby Lackluster Video and saw it for sale amongst the ‘previously viewed’ DVDs. Being a lover of all things monster movie-ish, naturally I had to get it. Even if it does star “Call me Deborah” Gibson and Lorenzo “ponytail grease” Lamas (~sigh…once upon a time folks…SO hot). Plus, Debbie Gibson drops the ‘F’ bomb. Nice.

I‘m not a big fan of coconut (it’s a texture thing), but I do like the flavor. So, when I saw that M&Ms has come out with new ‘limited edition’ Coconut M&Ms, I had to give them a try. Man! are they good! They would be so awesome in a cookie in lieu of chocolate chips. They’re bigger than the average M&M, roughly the size of their Peanut Butter M&Ms, so you might have to split them into pieces, but it makes me want to try them in a cookie SO bad! Get some before they disappear!
I want to tell you about the funeral service, but I am just burnt out on the topic at the moment. So, until that time comes, I’m going to try and go back to posting about things that don’t involve that. To be honest, I’m anxious to get enough posts up so that there isn’t a picture there to remind me every time I open the blog.
So, I ran across the new U2 video for their single ‘I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight‘ over at YouTube and though I am not a big fan of theirs, nor the song really (not ‘bad’ but it’s no Joshua Tree or Zooropa), I do love the video a lot. I’d embed it here for you to watch, but the ‘tards disabled embedding. Brilliant. I guess they wanted to be sure you saw their advertisement for their new concert. Whatever. Anyway, if you click on the image, it will take you to the YouTube page and you can watch it there.
