This weekend a friend came over and we hung out at my house. He asked if he could choose a game from my game closet, so I said “go for it.” He chose the Ouija board, which I haven’t played seriously since the mid -late 80’s when I used to play with my mom and grandmother. It was always a lot of fun and consistently accurate.

I realize there are some people out there that subscribe to different theories as to how the board actually works. After doing a little reading (post playing with my friend), there are 2 schools of thought: Continue reading

Stories for Men by America’s Most Virile Writers ¬© 1936

I bought this at the little used book store down the street from my house. Kinda pricey, but it’s hardcover and I really wanted it.¬†Naturally, being over 70 years old, I was unable to find a synopsis for this book online. And since the book itself has no dust jacket (it’s fairly small, measuring in around a diminutive 4×6 inches), I don’t have one to give you. The book title is pretty self-explanatory; it is what it is: Stories for Men. Containing 13 stories by various authors, the book is more about high adventure than naughty nymphos. An example of one of the “virile” writers would be William Faulkner and his story about an American aviator in World War I who befriends a British torpedo-boat pilot and comes to see the war from a perspective that’s less remote and abstract than that of the one he had as an aerial bomber (Turn About). What a Way to Start ’09

Okay, I realize this may be counter productive when it comes to getting the word out to my regular reader(s) where I am now, but I just pulled a Secret Squirrel: I deleted the post I put on my original blog (Blogger), with my new blog URL, because I kinda like that I am incognito once again. Sure, I’m listed in search engines and I can always go back and repost, but for now I can blog with wild, reckless abandon.

And that brings me to discuss my monumental New Year’s Eve/Day. If you’ve read my blog in the recent past, you know about the ‘just friends’ relationship I have with a particular friend. You also know that even though I think I’d like for it to be a little more than a friendship, that I’m realistic and realize that he doesn’t have those kind of feelings for me. *Fyi: From here on out, I will simply refer to him as ‘P.’

So, now that you’re caught up, back to telling you about the best New Year’s I’ve had in a long, long time, if not ever. Continue reading

Well, I kinda-sorta found the key to editing my template. Apparently you have to find a template that has a “customizable header.” It’ll do for now at least. I’m still not sure what’s going on with the Flickr! widget and I never seem to know how to add my own ‘RSS Feed’, etc. etc. Maybe the key is to keep it simple. I suppose I can always tweak it as I go along. I guess I’m just retentive in the sense that I like things to be the way I want them NOW as opposed to later.

I’m gonna work on some new blog posts today, so hopefully I can at least get back to blogging and put the aesthetics on the back burner.

I know, I know. The place looks awful. I am working on figuring something out with the template. Since it is in CSS format, it’s slow going. I’ve found a template I like, but it’s not taking for some reason. I want something I can alter and make my own, but apparently that’s asking too much.

I have lots of interesting things to tell you and show you, but they will have to wait until I can get this template issue figured out. Hang in there, I’m still here, just not ready for my close-up yet.
